Where Do You Want to Go? Moving from Distance to Accessing His Presence


Central Theme: God has not called us to be mere observers or spectators of His work, but to take the first step of faith, overcoming fear and assuming our place of intimacy and priesthood in His presence.

MONDAY — WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?

KEY VERSE

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" — John 14:6

REFLECTION

We all begin our journeys with expectations. Whether in finances, marriage, health, or spiritual life, there is always a place we desire to reach. However, to attain the fullness of what God has reserved for us, we must understand that there is a unique and personal path. There are places and dimensions in God that no one can access for you. Access requires your name on the list, your presence, and your willingness to walk.


Many times, we expect others to live our faith for us or for transformation to occur without any movement on our part. However, faith and prayer involve petition and action. The first step may not immediately lead you to the final destination, but it has the power to remove you from the position you shouldn’t be in.


PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  • Identify an area of your life that is stagnant.
  • What is the first step of faith or practical attitude you need to take today to move from that position?

    • PRAYER

    Lord my God, I thank You because You are the way, the truth, and the life. Remove me from stagnation and complacency. Give me the courage and willingness to take the first step toward the places You have prepared for me. In Jesus' name, amen.


    TUESDAY — MOVING OUT OF THE SPECTATOR POSITION

    KEY VERSE

    "And all the people witnessed the thunders and the lightnings and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off." — Exodus 20:18

    REFLECTION

    When the people of Israel were at the foot of Mount Sinai, they witnessed God's glory, heard the sound of trumpets, and saw the mountain smoking. Yet the people's choice was to stay afar and merely observe. There is a profound difference between witnessing and participating, between being a spectator and being a participant in God's life.


    Still water breeds contamination and points to death; flowing water symbolizes the life of Christ. We were not called to merely watch the testimonies of others on Sunday and continue with a stagnant life on Monday. God's life desires to flow through you. For the river to flow, movement, confrontation of internal friction, and willingness to be more than just an admirer but a protagonist of faith are required.


    PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  • Are you living faith through the experiences of others (leaders, pastors, friends), or are you seeking your own experiences with God?
  • Choose today to actively seek the Lord in your secret place.

    • PRAYER

    Heavenly Father, forgive me for often positioning myself as a mere spectator of what You are doing. I do not wish to see Your glory from a distance. I desire for Your river to flow within me and through me. In Jesus' name, amen.


    WEDNESDAY — FEAR THAT DISTANCES VERSUS FAITH THAT DRAWS NEAR

    KEY VERSE

    "Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, 'I tremble with fear!' ... But the people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was." — Hebrews 12:21 / Exodus 20:21

    REFLECTION

    In light of God's glorious manifestation at Sinai, both the people and Moses felt fear and trembling. However, their reactions to fear were completely opposite: while the people's fear distanced them from God's presence, Moses's reverence and faith propelled him closer to the thick darkness where God was.


    Feeling apprehensive or uncertain in the face of life's challenges is human. The problem is not having fear, but allowing fear to govern your decisions and push you away from God's presence. In financial, marital, or transitional crises, fear tries to repel us. But faith calls us to advance even with fear, knowing that the Lord is in control and walks with us in the cloud.


    PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  • What fear or uncertainty has tried to push you away from God's presence or taking on new responsibilities?
  • Surrender that fear to God and take a step forward.

    • PRAYER

    Lord, I recognize my weaknesses and the fears that sometimes try to paralyze me. I choose not to allow fear to distance me from Your altar. Even in the darkness and uncertainty, I decide to draw near to Your presence. Sustain me with Your hand, amen.


    THURSDAY — INTIMACY CANNOT BE OUTSOURCED

    KEY VERSE

    "They said to Moses, 'Speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, or we will die.'" — Exodus 20:19

    REFLECTION

    The people of Israel made the serious mistake of trying to outsource their relationship with God. They wanted Moses to go up the mountain, hear from God, and relay commands while they remained safe and at a distance. However, Moses was just a temporary channel; he could not enter Canaan nor replace the individual responsibility of the people.


    In the Christian walk, no pastor, leader, spouse, or intercessor can have intimacy with God for you. They can pray with you, guide the path, and point the direction, but the life in the secret and the steps on the mountain belong exclusively to you. God personally invites you to open the Bible at home, close the door of your room on Tuesday or Wednesday and hear His voice for yourself.


    PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  • Set aside some time today, away from distractions and intermediaries, to pray and read the Word in the secret of your room.

    • PRAYER

    God the Father, I take responsibility today to seek Your face. I do not want to live depending solely on the prayers and words of others. Teach me to close the door of my room and have deep moments of intimacy with You. In Jesus' name, amen.


    FRIDAY — A KINGDOM OF PRIESTS AND A PECULIAR PEOPLE

    KEY VERSE

    "Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people... you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." — Exodus 19:5-6

    REFLECTION

    God's original desire was never to have just one man or an exclusive clergy on the mountain, but to make His entire people a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Through the blood of Jesus and the torn veil at the cross, we receive the boldness necessary to enter the Most Holy Place.


    Christianity is not just about knowing facts about God, but about how well we truly know and relate to Him. When we hear the voice of the Lord and keep His covenant, we become His peculiar treasure — people who carry a unique brightness and God's very presence at work, at home, and anywhere they go.


    PRACTICAL APPLICATION

  • Remember that you are a priest of God in your home and workplace.
  • How can you demonstrate the presence and life of Christ today to those around you?

    • PRAYER

    Lord God, thank You for the privilege of being part of Your kingdom of priests. Thank You that the veil has been torn and I now have free access to Your presence through the blood of Jesus. May my life reflect Your glory and may I be light and blessing wherever I go. Amen.

  • Where do you find yourself today: observing from afar what God is doing in the lives of others or experiencing God's movement in your own life?
  • Is there any fear (financial, family, professional transition) paralyzing your spiritual steps? What can you do to turn this moment into an approach to God?
  • How is your spiritual life in secret during the week (Monday to Saturday)? Have you been seeking to hear God's voice in your daily routine?
  • Have you been trying to outsource your relationship with God, hoping leaders and pastors will do what belongs to you in secret?
  • How have you exercised your role as a priest within your home and in raising your children?

    "The first step will not immediately take you to where you want to go, but it will remove you from the position where you can no longer stay. The cross transformed distance into access!"
